New bilateral collaboration of CIB with MedUni Wien
New collaboration of CIB was established with The Center for Medical Physics and Biomedical Engeneering at Medical University of Vienna. Reasearch interest of RNDr. Veronika Huntošová’s group and Assoc. prof. Angelika Unterhuber’s group is supported with bilateral APVV project between SLOVAKIA and AUSTRIA: SK-AT-23-0001.
Project title: Design of modular anticancer nanoparticles for morpho-molecular functional drug response investigation of cells and patient-derived organoids (MO3)
Cancer is one of the most common causes of death worldwide. Although there are successful approaches to treating tumours, early diagnosis can help to prevent the fatal consequences of cancer. Nanotechnology provides a tool to construct carriers from metal-organic frameworks that can carry both contrast agents for diagnosis and anti-cancer drugs for treatment.
Advanced imaging today offers a range of approaches that collect multimodal information from a sample. In the proposed project, we address both aspects.
Experts in nanoparticle design, organoid preparation, bioimaging and advanced data analysis will address the stated goals of the project and train young researchers and PhD students in biomedically orientated science and approaches to monitor the interactions of nanoparticles with different biological materials.
